DESCRIPTION:

Artron's One Step HIV 1/2 antibody test employs an antibody-capture immunochromatographic assay designed to identify HIV1/2 antibodies in blood samples. Specific HIV1/2 antigens, GP41 and GP 36, are 1) linked with colloidal gold and placed on the conjugate pad and 2) fixed on the test zone (T) on the nitrocellulose membrane, respectively. Upon the addition of a serum/plasma sample, it rehydrates the gold-antigen conjugate, and if present, HIV1/2 antibodies interact with the gold-conjugated antigen. The resulting antigen-antibody-gold complex migrates toward the test window until the test zone (T), where it is captured by immobilized antigen, forming a visible red line (Test band) indicative of positive results. In the absence of HIV1/2 antibodies, no red line will appear in the Test Zone (T).

To ensure internal process control, a control line should consistently manifest at the Control Zone (C) after completing the test. The lack of a colored control line in the Control Zone indicates an invalid result.
